Unlike traditional autobiographical writings, life writing attempts to examine one's life story in relation to those of others. In particular, it is more about life rather than self. The term life writing thus suggests that our life experiences are hardly isolated but intertwined with life experiences of other people. This collection of twelve essays by Taiwan's scholars investigates different aspects of life writing, focusing especially on themes related to race, class, gender, ethnicity, transnational adoption, etc.
