Following the 1972 publication of The Character of the Chinese People (中國人的性格：科際綜合性的討論) edited by Li Yih-yuan and Yang Guo-shu, this book is the first collection of essays in 40 years to take an interdisciplinary perspective assembling anthropologists and psychologists, as well as scholars of philosophy and psychoanalysis, to investigate how acculturation and expression interactively occur at the intersection of cultural and psychological phenomena.
